Atelierdb Architects were appointed to design and deliver a number of extensions and remodelling of a substantial 5 bedroom house in Oxshott Surrey.
To the rear of the house we replaced an infill dated and poorly insulated conservatory with a contemporary full width glass extension with log burning fire.
At the front we added a two storey extension to create a gym at ground floor and a master bedroom extension at first floor – providing his and hers walk through wardrobe and ensuites.
The existing original stair was poorly planned lacking any theatre or presence for a house of such stature. We removed the old stair and created new with a better configuration and sense of arrival at both levels. Laser cut metal screens with moorish references help provide guided views and create dappled light across spaces.
Externally we redesigned the look and feel of the house to give it a more modern feel.
The rear swimming pool was infilled and an alhambra inspired water feature added.
With a love for classic cars, our brief was expanded to include for an internal area to be designed to house one of the owners amazing cars – sitting beside a rather spectacular wine fridge.
